I am so excited to be writing this post today! I’ve been trying to plan it all week, but here I am at 1am on a Saturday morning and I’m just going to wing it. This month marks the three year anniversary since I got the Travel and Pictures domain, and about 3.5 years since my blogging journey began. Throughout this post, I will be sharing some of the travel opportunities that arose thanks to this blog!
It all began in my first year of college when a teacher suggested I start a blog asap, so I began by writing random personal posts about college assignments and anything else that was going on in life. These embarrassing starter posts still linger far in the background of this blog, I couldn’t bring myself to delete them, it’s fun to see where you come from. Among my school work, I then started slowly learning about the workings of a blog. Things like SEO, analytics, keywords, etc worked their way into my skill set.
Now three years later, I’ve had the opportunity to work on some really great projects, see some beautiful destinations and work with some fantastic companies.
Where are things going from here? Well I’m not currently traveling full time, but I want to be able to offer more on this blog, so as well as offering posts on destinations, and travel tips, I will also be branching into more lifestyle posts. A blog update will be coming in the near future so it will make it easy for you to choose if you’d rather access travel info, or other lifestyle posts. If you’re here for everything, I welcome you to stay as long as you’d like and dig deep!
What have I learned from blogging? First of all, never in my wildest dreams did I think I would ever travel solo. In 2014, less than a year after I began blogging I did my first solo trip ever to New York City, and less than a year later I did my first solo trip overseas to London, England. I have learned that blogging is something I love so much! I start a lot of hobbies that fade within a few months of beginning, but here I am all these years later still dedicated to the blog and my photography which speaks volumes to me! This is definitely something I’m meant to do with my life. I learned to be independent, to go after what I want and that if I want something to happen, I have to make it happen. Blogging helps me grow and change constantly.
I want to extend a huge thank you to the readers of this blog, my social media followers, and the people and companies I’ve had the pleasure to work with over the past few years. I have had such a blast growing this blog, and of course my dear readers, none of this would be possible without you.
