What is blogging?
To me, blogging is sharing stories and experiences with anyone who is interested to listen. I was always told I should write, and as a child I wrote songs, stories and poems. I could only think of having to be a novelist in order to write, and I didn’t think that the job would suit me. It wasn’t until after I started leisurely blogging that I realized this is another form of writing that didn’t exist last time I thought of career choices.
How do you plan to make money?
As I am sure you know, many bloggers work with companies and sponsors which I would love to do. However as I am a photographer, I would like to get most of my business in that respect. Be it being sent out by magazines or selling my images to companies or photograph buyers. The list of options is ever growing thankfully
Where to people view from most often?
People visit the blog from all over the world, but my top ten countries are:
- United Kingdom
I enjoy sharing my tales from the road. This way I can easily navigate and look back on my own travels as well as inspire others and share my stories and knowledge with others.
What is The Danish Canadian?
My “blogging name” so to speak is The Danish Canadian. I was born and raised in Canada, but was raised very Danish and I feel that I belong in Denmark when I am there. Copenhagen to be more precise, but that’s besides the point. I felt it was an original and memorable name for the blog.
Why Travel and Pictures?
Honestly, when I was trying to self host, I already owned amberprimdahl.com and it wouldn’t let me choose that for my self host since it already existed. I typed in by chance travelandpictures to see if it would work and it stuck. Literally. I wasn’t able to change it after so that’s what it was. Then a few months later I found a paper I wrote when I spoke with my grandpa and he had said word for word travel and pictures. Now I feel as if I can’t change it because it makes it feel like he’s part of the process and supporting it. It’s as if he named it.
How will you afford it?
Until I have the opportunity to sell my photos or work with sponsors and other companies, I will work to pay for my own trips. My wanderlust will wait for nothing!
Where have you been?
USA: Pennsylvania, New York.
Canada: Toronto, Niagara Falls, Ottawa, Quebec
Europe: Spain, Denmark, Germany
Are you afraid of getting lost?
More no than yes. I always have a plan before I head out and keep a map and now Google Maps with me. Although naturally I have a very good sense of direction. I tell my mom that I must have been born with an internal compass because I am meant to travel as it sure does not run in the family.
Aren’t you afraid of being in dangerous countries?
No. I read so much from other bloggers that the media can make things sound worse than they are. Of course you must research the places you go and make sure you know the rules and the current situation in each country and region. Take the necessary precautions. Also common sense… Use it!
(Yes the fear questions you can thank my mother for…)
